Mrs. Jeanette Adams Zeigler age 91, a lifelong resident of Newton County, died Thursday, March 12, 2009. She was born on July 17, 1917 to the late Hugh C. and Mary Mitchell Adams. Mrs. Zeigler was a member of Newborn United Methodist Church and was a retired teacher from the Newton County school system. She was a literacy advocate and started the library in Newborn. She also started the Historic Preservation Society for the Child’s building.

Mrs. Zeigler was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Ralph Adams and her husband: William "Bill" Zeigler. She is survived by nieces: Julia Wilson of Newborn and Margaret Adams Harker of Virginia Beach, VA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, March 13, 2009 from 6-8pm. The funeral service for Mrs. Zeigler will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Newborn United Methodist Church with Rev. John Donaldson officiating.
