Jane S. Shepard of Covington, died September 27, 2009, at the age of 85. Mrs. Shepard was a member of the Covington First United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of both the Christian Fellowship Class and the Bobbie Banks UMW Circle. In addition, she worked with the Women’s Auxiliary at Newton Medical Center and the Covington Women’s Club. Mrs. Shepard enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, reading, but most of all she loved her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Chipman Shepard; and her parents, Felder Robert and Elizabeth Grogan Spivey. Survivors include her daughter, Marion Elizabeth Smith of Covington; son, Randy Shepard of Covington; grandchildren, Zachary Gilliard, Tommy Gilliard, Robert Shepard, Jr., Laura Shepard; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Felder Robert Spivey, Jr., of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Shepard will be held Thursday, October 1, 2009, 1 PM, at Covington First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath and Rev. John Whatley officiating, and interment following in Oak Hill Cemetery, in Talbotton, GA. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., Wednesday, September 30, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
