James (Jim, Jimmy) Livingston Hicks, 90 ¾, of Covington, passed away April 20, 2016. Jim was a well-respected veteran of WWII, proudly serving as a first-class gunner’s mate on Navy sub chasers. Through the years Jim’s family was always his top priority. He provided for them for 50 years by representing sporting goods manufacturers in the Southeast and later from the family cabin on Jackson Lake. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mitchell Hicks; son, David Anderson Hicks; grandson, Daniel Lee Hicks; and numerous immediate family members.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Beverly Hicks of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Jim Stacy of Jasper, Debbie and Rick Gattoni of McDonough; grandchildren, Rob Hicks, Kim Caudill, Jamey Hicks, Heather Hicks, Greg Hicks, Jim Stacy, Jennifer Stacy, Brian Stacy, Chad Stacy, Robin and Tori Hicks, Rya Hicks, Patrick Hicks; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Hood; brother-in-law, Tom Rowland; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins; as well as many, many friends and business associates.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Hicks will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016, 2 p.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Jim Ross officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to Abbey Hospice, 215 Azalea Court, Social Circle, GA 30025.
