James (Jim) R. Landers, of Covington, died January 21, 2010, at Newton Medical Center, at the age of 85. Son of the late Robert L. and Nealy Mae Westbrook Landers, he retired in the mid 1980’s from Owens Illinois, a glass manufacturing company, as a gauge operator. Mr. Landers enjoyed bible study, gardening, walking, and was an avid collector. He was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife, Mary Jewel Gurley Landers. Mr. Landers was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survivors include his children, Yvonne and Stan Burgess of Renton, WA, Sharon Hanson of Covington, Michael Landers of Conyers, Deborah and Tommy Brownlee of Griffin; grandchildren, Sabrina, Robbie, Laurie, Wesley, Destiny, Travis, Rachel, Crissi; great-grandchildren, Blake, Michael, Mandy, Matt, Zoe, Kaleb, Gavyne, Annelise; sister-in-law, Louise Landers of Vancouver, WA; several nieces and nephews Funeral services for Mr. Landers will be held on Monday, January 25, 12:00 PM, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, with Dr. Billy H. Lowery, Jr. officiating, and interment following in Memorial Gardens in Griffin.
