Mr. James H. Fountain Sr., 76, of Covington, formerly of Decatur, died Feb. 10. The son of the late George Rains and Rossie Iona Wood Fountain, he was born in 1932 in Lake City, Fla. Mr. Fountain retired from Goldkist after many years of service and was employed with Publix after his retirement. His favorite hobby was spending time with family, especially his grandson. Mr. Fountain proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War.
Surviving are wife Mrs. Elizabeth Fountain; son and daughter-in-law James H. Jr. and Sarah Fountain of Covington; brother and sister-in-law the Rev. Fritz and Marie Fountain; sister and brother-in-law Nina and Frank Hines, both of Lake City; grandchildren Cody Fountain and Christina Gray; great-grandson Jack Huff; nephews Cy Perkins III, Frank Hines; nieces Patty Coxe, Alisande Mayer, Leigh Ann Mills, Kristi Plemons and Dana Mostashari and their spouses.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Fritz Fountain and the Rev. Justin Heins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friends may sign the on-line registry at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
