James Fletcher Bailey, III, of Conyers, passed away Sept. 7, 2017, at 75 years of age. Mr. Bailey was a native of Covington and a graduate of Newton County High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 6 years. After retiring from Asea Brown Boveri, Mr. Bailey devoted time to his much-loved hobbies, sport-shooting, fishing, and caring for his aquariums. He also liked to tinker with building model boats and airplanes, and, for a short time, even dabbled in photography. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Beverly (Johnson) Bailey; parents, James Fletcher, Jr., and Charlie Mae (Wilson) Bailey; and his miniature Schnauzer, Wags.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Hatch of Athens, Jennifer and Scott Huff, Andi and Gregg Thomas, all of Madison; and grandchildren, Connor Hatch, Reagan Hatch, Landon Huff, Ryan Thomas, William Thomas.
A Graveside Service for Mr. Bailey will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, 3 p.m., at New Covington Cemetery, Davis Street, in Covington, with Rev. Tom Lee officiating.
