James Edward Gibbs, age 51, of Hillsboro, Georgia, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at his residence.
James Edward “Eddie” Gibbs was born in Covington. His mother was the late Modine Evelyn Smith Gibbs.
Eddie Gibbs, a good and honorable man, was a wonderful and loving husband, and father and friend to so many. He had three loves- his family first, his love for the outdoors and his career with Pittman Construction; Eddie’s second family.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him or you can be full of the love that you shared with Eddie. Cherish Eddie’s memory and let it live on in your hearts, do what he would want- smile, open your eyes, love and never forget he loved you right back.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation for everyone’s kindness during his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Rowland Gibbs of Hillsboro; children, Austin Gibbs and Ethan Gibbs of Hillsboro, Jason Wilson of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Kimberly (Rick) Witcher of Monticello; grandchildren, Zachary Wilson, Alyssa Wilson, J. J. Wilson, Danielle Coody, Micah Witcher and Maddox Witcher; father and step-mother, Fred “Sonny” and Mary Gibbs; brother and sister-in-law, George and Kim Gibbs of Covington; and best friend, Shane Wilcox of Newnan.
A memorial service will be held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3001 Old Salem Road, SE, Conyers, Georgia 30013. Pastor Shawn Shives will officiate.
