James Douglas (Jimmy Nolan of Covington passed away Dec. 5 at Eastside Medical Center. The son of Allie Will and Dovie Allene Hamlin Nolan, he was born in 1935 in Covington. He was a member of Lovejoy United Methodist Church where he was very involved with the barbecue and grounds keeping. He was faithful with his attendance and service and was well-known for his character and kind and gentle spirit. His family was his main priority, and he will be greatly missed.
Surviving are wife Martha Jo Nolan of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Beth Nolan of Oxford; daughter and son-in-law Tina and Andy Giles of Covington; grandchildren Christopher Wyatt, Geoff Nolan, Laura Nolan, Kate Nolan, Cole Giles; great-grandchild John Carter Wyatt; brother and sister-in-law Ricky and Joyce Nolan of Covington; brother-in-law Raymond (Virginia) Townsend; brother-in-law James Townsend; many other close family members and friends. He was preceded in death by parents Allie Will and Dovie Allene Hamlin Nolan and in-laws Lewis and Musette Townsend.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Lovejoy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Gravitt officiating. Interment will be at Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lovejoy United Methodist Church, 12835 Ga. Highway 36, Covington.
