Jacquelyn (Jackie) Jones Wood, 70, of Covington, passed away Sept. 7, at her daughter’s home in Cumming. Mrs. Wood was a loving wife and mother who loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. It could be said she was a full-time grandmother. She was a member of Covington First United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Harwell and Hazel (McClure) Jones and her brother, James Harwell Jones.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Don Wood of Covington; children, Kristie Dame and her husband Chris of Cumming, and their children, Jacquelyn, Benton, and Julianne; Jim Wood and his wife, Claire, of Huntsville, Ala., and their children, Joy and Callie; Don Wood III and his wife, Debbie. of Alpharetta, and their children, Anna, Emma, and Marion; and niece, Angela Gilmer.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Covington First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath, the Rev. Jan McCoy, and Larry Parnell officiating. Interment was held in Starrsville Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Mansfield United Methodist Church, 3031 N. Main Street, Mansfield, GA 30055.
