Helen Longino, 95, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018.
Helena Marie Tornare was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Pauline (Neiderman) and Adolph Tornare, Swiss immigrants. Helen danced with the Lilias Courtney Ballet of Louisville and the Southern Ballet of Atlanta before opening her own dance studios. “Miss Helen” taught thousands of children in Louisville, Atlanta, Covington and Conyers.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Angela Ballenger Sparks, of Buford, Cator Ballenger Hartley, of Statham, Danelle Grove Borland, of Greensboro, Alicia Grove Fay, of New Smyrna Beach, Leah Ballenger Barnett, of Covington, and Angel Ballenger Sandlin, of Roswell; as well as 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and niece, Karen Bossmeyer, and nephew, Glenn Bossmeyer, both of Louisville.
