Mrs. Helen G. Peterson, 98, of Covington and Dunwoody, passed away on Jan. 25. Mrs. Peterson worked in retail sales for Davidson’s Department store and eventually became a certified nursing assistant and an ombudsman for area nursing homes. She enjoyed flower gardening and was happily married for 40 years to A. Charles Peterson, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters Helena Peterson and husband Robert Mealey of Belfast, Maine; Georgianna Frame of Fresno, Calif.; son Edward Allen of Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughter-in-law Frankie Sheffield of Dunwoody; grandchildren Thoreau Lovell, Stefan Lovell, Angela Allen, Catherine Allen, George Allen, Clare Googins, Kate Mealey; special granddaughter and loving companion, Patti Sheffield of Dunwoody; and many great-grandchildren.

A mass for Christian burial for Mrs. Peterson will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Conyers, with Father John Kieran officiating, and interment in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
