Mr. Grady T. Hassell Sr., 90, of Conyers, passed away Dec. 31. He was preceded in death by his wife Julia Harlin Hassell.  Mr. Hassell was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Albemarle during World War II.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Conyers and in their senior church group.  He was founder and president of Lawn and Turf and was a former member of the Rockdale Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Association of Golf Course Superintendents.  He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.  

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Tom and Gail Hassell Jr., Conyers; daughters and son-in-law Yvonne and Robert Walker, Covington, Phyllis Burchett, Conyers; grandchildren Chris and Jennifer Walker, Watkinsville, Todd and Becky Walker, Graniteville, S.C., Stephanie and Edmond Hall, Covington; great-grandchildren Julia Walker, Andrew Walker, Thomas Hall, Sandra Hall.  

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 4, at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with the Rev. Howard Greer officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.  Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association, 1101 North Chase Parkway, Marietta, GA  30067 or flowers will be accepted.  Condolences may be submitted on-line at www.scotward.com.
