Grace M. Cook of Covington, passed away April 23, 2012, at the age of 95. Ms. Cook retired from Newton Federal Savings & Loan after 38 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Covington Pilot Club, for over 32 years, and held various offices and served as President for two terms. Ms. Cook thoroughly enjoyed her work as a volunteer with the Newton Hospital Auxiliary for over 25 years and received the President's Life Time Achievement Award for Volunteer Service in 2006. She was a long time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as Treasurer for many years. She loved reading and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Parrie (Moon) Cook, and her brother, Howard Cook.
Survivors include her cousins, Neil and Brenda Mason, Catherine Adams, all of Covington, Sara Williams of Oxford, Wiley Allgood of Greencove Springs, FL, Sam Allgood of Sparta, GA, Voncile Martin of Hot Springs, AR, Sylvia Bowen of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Leverett of Lithonia, David Duncan of Greenville, SC, Phil Duncan of Columbia, SC.
Funeral Services for Ms. Cook will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Celebrant, Adam Cooper officiating, and interment following in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, April 25, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
