Gladys Beatty Wessling

Mrs. Gladys Beatty Wessling, 78, of Mansfield, died Thursday, July 26, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. The daughter of John Daniel Beatty and Emma Lou Tindell Beatty, she was born in 1933 in South Berlin, Tenn. She worked for a number of years at the Griffin Insurance Agency in Morrow until her retirement in 2005. While in Morrow, she was an active and beloved member of the Saint Augustin's Episcopal Church. She moved to Mansfield in 2008 where she attended the Mansfield United Methodist Church. She was a kind, gentle and compassionate woman as well as a woman of great faith. She enjoyed gardening, reading and crafts and was very active in her church, particularly in fundraising events. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild and her pets. She will be missed by all of them.

She is preceded in death by her sisters Jane Gray Beatty and Johnnie Beatty Reese. She is survived by her son Michael Alan Jones of Ellijay, her daughters Catherine Ann Jones of Mansfield and Andrea Jones Craig of Decatur, her sister Betty Mae Butler of Phoenix, Ariz., three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services were held Sunday, July 29, at the Mansfield United Methodist Church and interment was in the columbarium at Saint Augustin's Episcopal Church in Morrow.
