Marvin George Newberry, Sr., of Mansfield, died December 8, 2009, at Eatonton Health and Rehab Center, at the age of 86. Son of the late Otis and Fannie Mae Holifield Newberry, he was a member of Capital Avenue Baptist Church and attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Newborn. Mr. Newberry was a kind man who loved helping people and enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the cars and trucks go by. He was a man truly devoted to his family and friends. Mr. Newberry was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Bagley Newberry and son, Gary Lee Newberry. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Pruitt and Carl of Eatonton, Dianne Bradford of Stockbridge, Judy and Howard Glow of Newborn, Jannie Newberry of Mansfield, Deborah and Van Byous of Conyers; sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin George Newberry, Jr. and Sandy of Mansfield, Roy Newberry and Betty of Covington; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Isabelle and Wesley Bagley of Forest Park, Shirley and Lewis Sanders of Dallas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee Newberry of Augusta, Susie Ford of Jackson, Shirley Weathers of Jackson, Peggy Ann Newberry of Talbotton. Funeral services for Mr. Newberry will be held on Friday, December 11, 11:00 AM, at the Floyd Street Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with Rev. Danny Sorrells officiating, with interment following in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge.
