George (Stump) Cown, age 70 of Loganville passed away Jan. 30, 2009. Mr. Cown was a longtime member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Grayson United Methodist Church. Mr. Cown graduated from Grayson High in 1956, served in the U.S. Navy for two years and retired from AT&T and C.R. Bard Medical in Covington. After retirement, he became known in the Grayson Community as "Santa" to many children.

Mr. Cown is survived by wife, TeRessie Cown; son and daughter-in-law Trey and Shari Cown of Loganivlle; son Travis Cown of Savannah; sister and brother-in-law Susan and Tracy Gerard; grandchildren Bo, Hayden and Jackson Cown; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Tim Stewart Funeral in Lawrenceville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Grayson United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Schroeder, Pastor Scott Hearn, Pastor Tommy Jordan and Ken Huff officiating. Interment will be at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grayson UMC Preschool Scholarship Fund at 555 Grayson Pkwy, Grason, Ga. 30017.
