Genell Harper passed away at her home in Oxford surrounded her family, October 31, 2011.  She was 60 years old at the time of her death.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Harper; parents, John Bailey and Mae (Finley) Tilson; and her mother-in-law, Susie J. Harper.  Mrs. Harper loved spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.  She enjoyed the time she spent at her lakehouse, as well as fishing, crafts, reading, bird and deer watching, and flowers.  She also enjoyed Thursday night family dinner dates at El Charro. 

 

Mrs. Harper is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Stacie L. Harper of Oxford, Amie and Jason Hammond of Covington; son, Ryan Harper of Oxford; grandchildren, Justin Hammond, Blake Hammond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Ann Birchfield of Barstow, CA, Woody and Delores Burchfield of Easley, SC, Jerry and Linda Tilson, Johnny Tilson, Vernon Tilson, Cliff and Nancy Tilson, all of Covington; father-in-law, George D. Harper of Porterdale; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nettie Sue Harper of Loganville, Rosalyn Shiver of Porterdale, Wayne and Rita Harper of Buckhead, Keith Harper of Covington; many nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Harper will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA, with Rev. Patricia Hill, Chaplain Wendy Wyche, Vernon Tilson, Bobby Wilbanks officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, November 2 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 P.M.  Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Newton County Relay for Life, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA  30605.
