Garry Brooks, of Covington, 64, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018. Garry was an all-around sports fan. He loved to hunt and enjoyed fishing - especially anytime he was able to go with his cousin, John Brooks, who was more like a brother, and his brother-in-law, Wayne Lazenby. A devout Christian, Garry was known for his caring heart and generous nature and was quick to help others in need. He will also be remembered for his remarkable sense of humor. Garry adored his sister, Cathy, and they shared a close bond as siblings - always there to support and uplift one another. He was preceded in death by his son, Garry Leon, Jr.; and father, Calvin Leon Brooks.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Brooks, of Covington; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Wayne Lazenby; as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Graveside Service for Garry will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Deacon Fred Johns officiating. Friends may visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, two hours prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
