Mrs. Emma Jean Humphrey, 73, of Covington, died Oct. 6. The daughter of the late Willie and Gertie (Robinson) Smith, she was born in 1935 in Jasper County. Mrs. Humphrey worked several years as an office assistant for Lithonia Lighting and was a member of New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries, Oxford. She was preceded in death by parents and husband Eugene Humphrey.
Surviving are daughter Patricia Avery of Decatur; son Michael D. Humphrey of Covington; sisters Lizzie Mae Turk, Maggie Blackshear, Bessie Carroll, Gertrude Williams; brothers Earl Smith, Robert Smith; grandchildren Marcus Smith, Jasmine Smith, Choleia Smith, Mitzy Humphrey, Micola Rainey; four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries, 453 Oxford Road, Oxford, with the Rev. W.G. Tigner Jr. officiating.
