Elwin S. Stephens of Oxford, 77, passed away July 23. Mr. Stephens was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was owner and operator of E.S. Stephens Heating & Air for over 30 years. When he wasn’t working, Mr. Stephens enjoyed working in his yard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie (Deerman) Stephens.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Tommie B. Myers of Vero Beach, Fla., Gail and Jimmy Payne of Blairsville, Jean Bush of Covington; sisters and brother-in-law Doris and Tracey Reagin of Gadsden, Ala., Gwenith Johnson of Ft. Payne, Ala.; grandchildren Melissa, LeAnne, Jennifer, Travis; great-grandchildren Chris, Keshon, Ryan, Kalah, Aiden; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral services held. Mr. Stephens will be interred at Lawnwood Memorial Park, in Covington.
