Elizabeth Hicks Belcher, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama, formerly of Starrsville, Georgia, died Sunday night, August 8, 2010, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. She was 92.

            Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. (E.D.T.) Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in the Starrsville United Methodist Church, Starrsville, Georgia, with Reverend Billy Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Belcher Family Cemetery in Starrsville. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P. M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

            Mrs. Belcher was born in Cherokee County, Georgia, daughter of the late Albert J. Hicks and Lilly Mae Herndon Hicks. She was reared in Woodstock and Marietta and lived in Starrsville, near Covington, Georgia, many years before moving to Abbeville, Alabama in 2007. Mrs. Belcher was a member of the Starrsville United Methodist Church. She was retired from Lockheed-Martin in Marietta. Mrs. Belcher was preceded in death by her husband, William Clifton Belcher, two sisters, Dottie McCoy and Juanita Gunter and three brothers, Billy Hicks, Earnest Hicks and Howard Hicks.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Betty Belcher and friend, David Owens, DeLand, FL; and Peggy Roberts and husband, Homer L. Roberts, Abbeville, AL.; two grandchildren, Lin Roberts and wife, Kelly Roberts, Troy, AL. and Bill Roberts and wife, Donna Roberts, Headland; three great-grandchildren, Trip Roberts, Coleby Roberts and Mary Beth Davis; a sister, Annette Poor and husband, Leroy Poor, Kennesaw, GA; a brother, Joe Hicks, Flagler Beach, FL; sisters-in-law, Helen Hicks, Marietta, GA; and Jean Hicks, Raleigh, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Denward Gunter, Dunellon, FL; several nieces and nephews.
