Dr. Louie Frances Woodward Marshall

Marshall, Dr. Louie Frances Woodward:  Entered into rest at age 89 on July 16, 2011, in Covington, GA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Marshall, her parents, Lucius Lamar Woodward and Louie Fenn Woodward, two brothers, Lamar Fenn Woodward and Ray Woodward, and one sister, Elizabeth Woodward Bradley.

 

Dr. Marshall was a graduate of Wesleyan College and the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine.  She completed her Residency at Sheppard Pratt in Ellicot City, Maryland.  She returned to the Medical College of Georgia where she served on the Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry from 1959 until her retirement in 1985.  She then served as Chief of Staff at the Lenwood Division of the VA Medical Center after which she maintained a successful private practice in Augusta for many years before retiring.  She was recognized by Who's Who in America and was a Master Gardener.

 

Survivors include two brothers, John Woodward (Margaret) and Henry Hartwell Woodward (Ruth), two sons, George J. Marshall, Jr. and Rick Marshall (Kathy), and one daughter, Louise M. Avaritt (Warren), eight grandchildren, Michelle Davis, George J. Marshall, III, Matthew Marshall, Ron Maddox, Alison Maddox Lassiter, Richard Marshall, Stephanie Marshall and Ryan Marshall, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Covington, GA on Friday, August 5, 2011, at 1:00 pm.  Donations may be made to Heifer International or Doctors Without Borders in her honor.
