Doris Hitchcock Fincher, 97, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Riverside Health Care. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church of Covington and member of Oxford Baptist Church. Fincher was born in Mansfield to the late William and Ludie Crenshaw Hitchcock; and was from one of the founding families of Newton County in the Brick Store area.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin Fincher in 2001; nine siblings and her son Tommy Wilson.

Doris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Terry Henderson of Covington; daughter-in-law, Karen and Rich Nelson; grandchildren and their spouses, Angie and John Beszborn, Toni and Jon McLemore, April and Brian Kelly, Tami and Brian Steinle, and Terri and Todd Daugherty; great-grandchildren and their spouses, Dillon Henderson (Erica), Chrissie and Ryan Chaney, Mitchell McLemore, Taumi and Andy Boyce, Jeff Feil, Brianna Steinle, Tyler Daughtery, and Tia and Zack Ricklefs; one great-great-granddaughter on the way; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Covington officiating. Interment will follow at Carmel Church Cemetery in Mansfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, November 11, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Online condolences may be made at wheelerfuneralhome.com.
