Deborah Ann Roberts Reid, affectionately called “Sister”. The oldest of five children was born on January 27, 1955, to the late Mr. Willie Clarence Roberts and Mrs. Helen Smith Roberts in Covington, Georgia.  At an early age, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church and later joined Kingdom Connections Ministries under the leadership of Rev. Carlton Mathis, where she served on the Usher’s Ministry. Deborah attended school in the Newton County School System, graduating from Newton County High School. Shortly after birth she was afflicted and later diagnosed with Lupus, which she suffered with all of her life, being on disability for several years after graduation from high school, the Lord showed favor on her and allowed her to attend Nursing School and later pursued a career of over thirty- eight years with Newton General Hospital, currently Piedmont Newton where she was currently employed until her death.

On May 19, 2005, Deborah was united in Holy Matrimony with “The Love of Her Life” the late Mr. Ralph Reid. She dearly loved her family always looking out for they wellbeing, with her being the oldest she helped raise her siblings, two nieces and her great nieces and nephews, just as if they were all her own.

After being exposed to Softball by her late father, she faithfully supported her nieces and nephews on the ball field as the Team Mom. Deborah has spent her life not so much interested in her needs, or wants but her family’s needs came first in her life. She loved yards sales, when she wasn't at the ball field. She was also a great cook she would always cook big delicious meals for her family, some of her favorites were Mac & Cheese and Turkey & Dressing.

On May 26, 2017, she departed this earthly life at Piedmont Newton Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Ralph Reid and a son, Mr. Ralphridquez “Rico” Reid. 

Deborah leaves to cherish her sweet, precious memories a loving mother, Mrs. Helen Roberts; children, Bruce Meadows, Aungela Wright, Ralph Hardeman, Alicia Hardeman, Ketia Heard, Quinton Lee; sister, Mr. & Mrs. Curtis (Darlene) Hurst; three brothers, Rev. & Mrs. Willie (Jennifer) Roberts, Rev. Tony Roberts and Rev. Bradley Roberts; three aunts; one uncle; nieces, Tiati Smith, Valencia Pitts, Nyla Roberts and Taylor Roberts; nephew, Kevin Banks; two great nieces, four great nephews and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral was held June 1, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, at 20151 Henderson Mill Road, Covington, GA, 30014, with Reverend Shelton Brown and Reverend Carlton Mathis officiating.
