Mr. Christopher Glenn Canup, 44, of Smyrna, passed away Dec. 6. Canup was born in Laredo, Texas and grew up in Covington. He graduated from Newton County High School, got his undergraduate degree in English from Georgia State University and his master's in English from the University of Georgia.
He recently returned to school at Kennesaw State University to pursue a master's in teaching. He is survived by his wife Sarah McCall Canup and children, Cameron McCall Canup and William Christopher Canup.
He is also survived by his mother Frankie Day Canup Jackson (Debbie) of Covington, and his father Leon Glenn Canup Jr. (Joe) of Newnan; sister Melissa Canup Mann (Sean) and their children Miko, Dipti and Patrick; brothers-in-law Michael Craig McCall (Damaris) and their children Gabriela and Michael, Christopher Cameron McCall (Julie) and their children Katie and Emma; sister-in-law Erin McCall Alley (Kevin) and their children Drew, Blake, Thomas and Luke. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents J.C. and LaMerle Day and Leon and Violet Canup.
Canup loved to spend time outdoors, hiking and camping with his children and cycling. He was a great cook who loved to prepare meals for his friends and family. He was an avid reader who passed on his love of books to his children.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 9 at Carmichael Funeral Home located at 2950 King Street, Smyrna, GA 30080 and on tomorrow, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a memorial service at 2 p.m.
