Charles C. Sherwood, age 79 of Cornelia, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017.  Born in Almon, Georgia on January 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Aubra Lee Sherwood and Ruth Campbell Sherwood. Mr. Sherwood was the owner and operator of both Sherwood Pharmacy and Sherwood Clinical.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Charles Campbell Sherwood, Jr. (Cam) and sisters, Jane Osborne and Gloria Hahn.

Charles married his wife, Jackie Heard in 1957 and together they joined Cornelia United Methodist Church on the first Sunday, August 1965. Mr. Sherwood was a very active and devoted member having served in many capacities including, Sunday School Teacher, MYF Youth Leader, Chairman of the Board, Chairman of Trustees, Chairman of Finances, Chairman of SPR, and Charter Member of Fellowship Class. He also was very active in various civic clubs having been a Charter Member of the Habersham County Jaycees, former President of both Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club. Mr. Sherwood was an avid golfer and member of The Orchard Men’s Golf Association and also an avid pilot.

Surviving are his wife, Jackie H. Sherwood of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Sherwood Nakayama and David Nakayama of Boston, MA; grandson, Charles Daniel Orr; two great-grandchildren, Cody & Landon Orr; sister, Patricia Ruth Waldon of Jacksonville, FL; also many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Monday, July 10, 2017, at Cornelia United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at Covington City Cemetery, Davis St, Covington, GA.  The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 8:30 pm on Sunday evening in the Fellowship Hall at Cornelia United Methodist Church.  The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cornelia United Methodist Church, PO Box 948, Cornelia, GA 30531.
