   Mr. Cary W. Belcher Jr., "Pete," died April 13 at Riverside Nursing Home. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cary (Hattie) Belcher Sr., he was born in 1939, the youngest of eleven siblings. He attended public schools in Newton County and joined Union Grove United Methodist church at an early age. Later, he moved his membership to Saint Paul A.M.E. where he enjoyed attending Sunday services and senior citizen activities. He was a faithful member until his health declines. Mr. Belcher worked for Williams Brothers Lumber Company for several years as an odd job maintenance worker. As a young adult, he married Sarah Freeman. Mr. Belcher was a fun and loving person who enjoyed riding his bike and visiting friends in the neighborhood. He was preceded in death by sisters Mrs. Jessie Mae Reed, Mrs. Sara Hudson and Mrs. Gloria Heard and brothers Mr. Samuel Belcher and Mr. Cleveland Belcher.

 Surviving are sisters Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Roy (Mildred) Sims; brothers Mr. and Mrs. Carey (Sarah) Belcher, Mr. Lindsey Belcher, Mr. and Mrs. William Rakestraw, Mr. and Mrs. David (Shirley) Rakestraw; aunt Mrs. Olivia Howard; special sister Mrs. Ocie Franklin; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 Funeral services were held April 17 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church with Pastor Thomas Stegall, the Rev. Darlene Smith, the Rev. Clara Lett and the Rev. H.K. Benton Jr. officiating. Interment followed in New Covington Cemetery.
