Carolyn Nelms, of Covington, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the age of 90. Mrs. Nelms was a resident of Covington for over 21 years. She carved out a career and retired from the dentistry profession. Mrs. Nelms enjoyed family gatherings and entertaining during the holidays, especially Christmas! She had a big heart for her family and loved making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nelms will be remembered as a loving and caring woman. Mrs. Nelms was preceded in death by her grandson, Kyle Bemis; parents, Edith and Joe Whaley; and brother, Earnest Whaley.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ronald Nelms; daughter, Rhonda Bemis (Robert); grandchildren, Joshua Harms, Ashely Herring, Carolyn Smith; great-grandchildren, Coleman Herring, Amelia Harms, Parker Herring, Anderson Harms, Isabelle Smith, Braylen Herring; sister, Ann Rawlins (Marty); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Nelms will be announced at a later date by Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted, or in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 53 Perimeter Center E Suite 100, Atlanta, Georgia 30346, or through their website.
