Bobby G. Wise, Sr., of Conyers, died January 27, 2009, at the age of 77. Son of the late Louie C. and Estelle May Church Wise, he founded Full Gospel Tabernacle in Blairsville, in 1970, and served as pastor for 13 years. In addition, Mr. Wise served as City Marshall for Blairsville. He served in Korea as SFC with the 2nd Infantry Division, 23rd Regiment. Following his service as post commander for VFW Post 5290 with Conyers, he then founded John O. McCart VFW Post 2938 in Covington, and served as post commander there for 10 years. Mr. Wise was a member of American Legion Post 32 and BPOE #1806, both in Covington. He worked as Constable in Union County for 9 years, and was employed by the Department of Offenders Rehabilitation for 6 years. Mr. Wise served as Chaplain for the Peace Officers Association of Georgia, and was a member of both the Independent Order of Fellows and Blue Lodge. In 2003, Mr. Wise was selected as Distinguished All-American Post Commander by VFW world-wide. He was preceded in death by his brothers, L.C. Wise, Jr., Harold D. Wise, and Jerry L. Wise. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Wise; daughter, Tracy Raina Wise, both of Conyers; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Shelton and Yolanda Wise of Aiken, SC, Eric Lee and Stacy Wise of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Eric James Wise, Harley Ann Schultz, Jozie Welch, Austin Shelton Meeks, Brooklyn Wise, Peyton Wise, Dakota Wise, Haley Wise, Destiny Wise, Nathaniel Wise; sisters, Doris Richardson of Westminister, SC, Brenda Law of Central, SC, Glenedna Emerson of Seneca, SC; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wise, Rickie Duncan, both of Knoxville, TN; Godson, Steve Price of Seneca, SC. Funeral Services for Mr. Wise will be held Friday, January, 30, 2009, 1 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, January 29, from 5 to 8 PM. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to VFW Post 2938, PO Box 2988, Covington, GA 30015.
