Mr. Bill Brantley, age 79, of Covington passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013.  He was born February 10, 1934 in Morganfield, Kentucky to the late William Thomas and Margaret Taylor Brantley.  Mr. Brantley served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Georgia Tech and graduated with a degree as an Industrial Engineer.  After graduating he worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Brantley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Covington; he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir and was a member of the Murphy Gang Sunday School Class.  After retiring he started his second career, taking care of his grandchildren and spending as much time with his family as he could.  Mr. Brantley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He was preceded in death by his sister Vivian Brantley and his brother Jerry Brantley.

 

Mr. Brantley is survived by his wife Connie Brantley, his sons and daughters-in-law Billy and Jean Brantley of Arlington, Virginia and Tommy and Giselle Brantley of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida his daughter and son-in-law Betsy and Greg Proffitt of Covington his sister Peggy David of Zionsville, Indiana, his six grandchildren Brantley Proffitt, Jackson Brantley, Ellie Proffitt, Carson Brantley, Leilani Brantley and Hudson Brantley, special friends Patsy and Andy Bargeron along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.     

 

A celebration of life for Mr. Brantley will be held at 11 o’clock Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Covington with Dr. Steve McDonald, a close friend and family member and Reverend Charles Reynolds officiating.  The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, November 25, 2013.  In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the First Baptist Church Building Fund at 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014 or to the Ronald McDonald House, 795 Gatewood Road, NE • Atlanta, GA 30329.  J.C.
