Betty Lou Maddox Shaw, of Covington, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the age of 80. Mrs. Shaw was a faithful member of Julia A. Porter Methodist Church where she attended services. A graduate of Newton High School, class of 1958, she was the owner and operator of Bouquet by Betty since 1988. Mrs. Shaw was also a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Covington and the Porterdale Woman’s Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Shaw; parents, Alvin and Maxie Maddox; brothers and sister-in-law, Lynwood Maddox, J.C. Maddox, David and Diane Maddox; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye Aiken, Wallace Lindsey, Sharon Maddox, Jo Ann and Gene Knight. 

Survivors include daughters, Kathryn Stewart of Marietta, Alisha Reynolds, of Covington, Cynthia Foshee, of Flovilla; son and daughter-in-law James Horace Stewart, III and wife, Joyce, of Walnut Grove; grandchildren, Susan and Ian Steele, Autumn Foshee and John Arnett; Great-grandchild, Basil Steele; sisters and brother-in-law Gail Lindsey, of Porterdale, Don Aiken, of Covington, Glenda Austin, of Gretna, Louisiana, Shirley Crawford, of Porterdale; brother and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Vickie Maddox, of Porterdale, Bonnie Maddox, of Lilburn, Dorothy Maddox, of Calhoun; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.  

A Funeral Service for Betty will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, 3 Cotton Ave., in Porterdale, with the Rev. Roger Cato and the Rev. John Ozley officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Friends may visit with her family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 17 at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
