Mrs. Betty J. "Mums" Westmoreland, 58, of Social Circle, died Dec. 21. The daughter of the late John Denham and Katherine Nash Crawford, she was born in 1950 in Marquette, Mich. She has lived in Social Circle for eight years, moving there from Valparaiso, Ind., where she worked as a school bus driver for Valparaiso Transportation for 25 years. Mrs. Westmoreland loved her dogs Beanie and Smores and enjoyed working outside. The love of her life was her family. Her husband, children, great-grandchildren and great-grandchild and two future-great-grandchildren filled her heart as she loved spending as much time as she could with them.
Surviving are husband Larry Westmoreland of Social Circle; children Marikay and Steve Hardy of Covington, Larry and Anessa Westmoreland of Covington and Jeremy Westmoreland of Social Circle; seven grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 24, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Dr. James Johnson and the Rev. Richard Shorter officiating. Interment will follow at the Newton Covington Cemetery.
