Betty J. Mallett, of Covington, passed away January 10, 2014, at the age of 82. A homemaker and mother of three, she loved her family dearly. She volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary and was involved with the Women’s Club and PTA. She enjoyed amateur art and gardening. Mrs. Mallett was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Lelia (Harrison) Martin; and brothers, Wayne H. Martin and James Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Baxley Mallett; sons and daughters-in-law, Allen B. Mallett Jr. and Pamela J. Etu, William T. and Candace Mallett, and Edward D. and Georgiana Mallett; grandchildren, April Mallett, Peter Mallett, Daniel Mallett, David Mallett, and Chris Mallett; and great-granddaughter, Maddie Cournoyer.
A graveside service for Mrs. Mallett will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 15 at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington, with Dr. Susan Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 Jan. 14 at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd St.
