Mrs. Bettie Louise Hinton Shepherd, age 81, of Covington passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018.  She was born May 25, 1936 in Conyers to the late Thomas and Jettie Hinton.  The youngest of eight children, Mrs. Shepherd was preceded in death by her four sisters and three brothers.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Milton A. “Buddy” Shepherd.  Mrs. Shepherd retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and following her retirement worked for Farm Bureau for a number of years.  She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church joining there in 1948.  Most recently Mrs. Shepherd attended Shiloh United Methodist Church in Almon.  Mrs. Shepherd loved to collect Lenox Birds and angels and had her home decorated for each season.  She was an Atlanta Braves Baseball fan and also loved her family very much. 

Mrs. Shepherd is survived by dozens of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, grand-grandnieces and grand-grandnephews and their spouses along with a special friend and caregiver Carrie Barron.     

Funeral services for Mrs. Shepherd will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Whatley and Reverend Chris Allen officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service.
