Barbara Jean Jacoby, 78, passed away Oct. 17 following a brief illness. Mrs. Jacoby was the daughter of Martin and Sylvania Faulkner of Snowdoun, Ala. She is preceded in death by her husband Glen Jacoby and her son Dale Jacoby, as well as her brother Martin Faulkner and her sisters Carolyn Bailey and Francis Cutts. Mrs. Jacoby was a long-time resident of Montgomery, Ala., graduating from Sidney Lanier High School in 1951. Following the death of her husband, she devoted her life to raising her children as both mother and breadwinner. When that task was accomplished, she spent her remaining years helping others as often as possible.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Carol Jacoby, son Bradley Glenn Jacoby, brothers William and Edward Faulkner and five grandchildren.

Following a private burial ceremony at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery, there will be a memorial gathering at Southern Memorial Funeral Home beginning at noon with a brief service in the chapel beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to Feed the Children Charity, the American Leukemia Society or to any educational charity.
