Mrs. Barbara Estep, age 79, passed away March 11, 2016.  She was born April 7, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Lewis Everett and Althea Cooper Van Akin.  Mrs. Estep served in the United States Army and retired achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  After her service to her country she worked for 30 years at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta.  Mrs. Estep was a former member of the Oxford Lions Club and enjoyed going to the beach and loved cruising.  She also enjoyed shopping, antiquing and collected twisted butter knives.  Mrs. Estep was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Estep and her brother; Boyd Hildebrand and is survived by her children; Cathy and Frank Davis III and Christopher B. Estep, all of Covington along with her sisters; Frances Rowell of Myrtle Beach and Martha Rogers of Burnsville, MS and numerous other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Estep will be held at 11 o’clock Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Georgia Veteran’s Cemetery in Milledgeville.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.   J.C.
