Mr. Arthur Vason Jr., "Mr. Pig," died Dec. 7. The son of Mrs. Dora Lucile Sims Vason and the late Mr. Arthur "Pap" Vason Sr., he was born in 1951 in Covington. He and his brother Horace graduated from R. L. Cousins High School in 1970. Mr. Vason played baseball with the Spring Hill Reds baseball team and was a member of the Tommy Dawgs Motorcycle Club in Lithonia. He joined Good Hope Baptist Church at a young age and was the father of four children. Always a hard worker, he worked for various companies in Newton County, most recently Clarion Metal Company. During his spare time, Mr. Vason loved fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle. He had a very loving and friendly disposition and was always kind to those whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by brother Horace Vason; half-sister Kathy Maude Woods; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Shedrick (Emma ) Vason and Mr. and Mrs. Earlie (Etta) Sims Sr.; aunts Irene Vason, Delthia Deer and Ellen Heard; uncles Charlie and Albert Vason and Willie Clarence Sims; and daughter Latice Vason.

Surviving are mother Dora Lucile Vason; children Taurus Seats, Shawn Martin, Sharieka (Scott) Neal; brother Harold Vason; aunts Margie Sims, Gladys Sims; uncles Earlie Sims Jr., Clifford (Mary) Sims; great-uncle Johnny (Cathy) Camp; great-aunts Amy Russell, Edith Camp, Ruby Kate Camp, Florence Wormack, Emma Rose Morris, Lois Banks; a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews and loving cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Good Hope Baptist Church with Pastor E. J. Tomlinason. Interment will follow at Flat Shoals Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home.
