Annie Grace Henderson, 95, of Oxford, Georgia passed away on January 12, 2012. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Wilson Henderson, and her husband, Charlie Robert Henderson.  She was the oldest child born to Henry and Pearl Chapman.  Her sister, Gladys Jones, and brothers, Raybon, Leonard, and Harold Chapman preceded her in death.  An older set of children were born to Henry and Nora Chapman.  Glen Chapman, Sarah Ruth Ollis, Rosa Lee McCurdy, and Viola McGiboney also preceded her in death.  Grace is survived by one sister, Mattie Cook of Conyers, and one brother, Emmett Chapman of Porterdale.  Niece Patricia Singleton, and family, have been her caregivers for several years.  Grace is also survived by special cousin, Clara Dunevent, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.  She had many friends in her everyday life with church, AARP, and Newton County Senior Services.  She retired from Bibb Manufacturing in 1976 to care for her husband.  After his death, she stayed busy going to Sardis Congregational Church, the AARP, and the Senior Center.

Aunt Grace was well known for her fabulous cooking.  Most of the family will tell you her fried chicken was the best.  In years past, all of her family can say they enjoyed meals around her table.  Aunt Grace will be missed by so many people.  But she has just been waiting on God to call her home.  All of us have been very blessed to have had her as a sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and acquaintance.

Funeral services for Aunt Grace will be held at 2 O’clock Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, formerly Sardis Congregational Church, with Reverend Tom Harris and Joel Singleton, officiating.  Interment will follow at Carmel Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home from 4pm until 8pm on Friday, January 13, 2012.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make a donation to the Newton County Senior Center, P. O. Box 466, Covington, GA 30015, a place where Aunt Grace enjoyed spending time.  J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Chapel, 2157 East Street SE, Covington, GA 30014 is in charge of arrangements. www.harwellfuneralhome.com
