Mrs. Anita Millwood Fuqua, 68, of Augusta, passed away Sept. 24. Mrs. Fuqua was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She never met a stranger and always maintained an optimistic personality. Throughout her career as a nurse, of over 42 years, she mentored many. She was well loved by her fellow co-workers at Emory University in Atlanta and the Veterans Administration in Augusta. Mrs. Fuqua enjoyed her membership with the "Fun Club" Red Hat Society in Augusta. She was a faithful member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church where her late husband Jack Edwin Fuqua Sr. served formerly as pastor. Mrs. Fuqua is preceded in death by her beloved husband and son Jack E. Fuqua, Jr.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Rob Fuqua, Rick and Michele Fuqua, Bill and Leslie Fuqua; sister and brother-in-law Brenda Millwood Jordan and John; brother and sister-in-law Tommy Lee and Sue Millwood; granddaughters Maggie, Katie, Marye, Jessica and Gabrielle Fuqua; precious great-grandson Colin Fuqua; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastors Keith Cox and Alan Faulkner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to At Home Hospice, 1374 Manchester Drive, Conyers, Ga. 30012.
