Andrenita Gaither Benton died June 18. The daughter of Charles and Amma (Goss) Gaither Sr., she was born in 1966 in Covington. Affectionately known as Nene or Nita to family and friends, Ms. Benton joined Rust Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. She loved her church and enjoyed working with the youth. She also loved to plan and organize family events, feeling it was important for family to get together. She worked fro the Newton County School System for many years and was a beautician by trade. She was a member of the Newton County High School class of 1985. She was preceded in death by her grandparents the Rev. Lovett and Mable Goss Sr. and Henry and Minnie Gaither, sisters Cynthia Henderson and Angela Mathis and niece Shericka Wyatt.
Surviving are her son Willie Quinado Smith Sr., and Octavia Thomas; granddaughter Keymiya Smith; grandson Willie "Q" Smith Jr.; parents Charles (Amma) Gaither Sr.; sisters Cheryl Gaither, Jill Gaither, Shawonna Gaither; brothers Charles Gaither Jr., Leonard Gaither, Brainard Gaither; a special extended family Dorothy E. Smith and family; sisters-in-law Kimberly (O C) Corbett, Cowanna Maddox; brother-in-law Palmer Mathis III; great-aunt Mattie Kelley; special cousin Jennifer Marshall; special friends Tammy Terrell and Tonya Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins an dear friends.
Funeral services were held June 25 at Rust Chapel UMC with Pastor Quincy Felder, the Rev. James Collier, the Rev. Willie Smith and others officiating. Interment was in Oxford Historical Cemetery.
