Mr. Alex Cleveland "A.C." Tuggle died Sept. 2. Mr. Tuggle was born in 1941, the son of Mrs. Charsie Mae Tuggle and Mr. Joe Velton Tuggle Sr. in Newton County, the second of four children. He joined Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully during his youth. He sang in the church youth choir, attended Sunday School and participated in the church’s youth group. Mr. Tuggle was a graduate of R.L. Cousins High School and was a member of the basketball team and school chorus. He married Evelyn Dewberry. He was preceded in death by son Anthony Craig Tuggle. Mr. Tuggle’s passion was music and he was one of the original members of the Faithful Gospel Singers. After his father’s death, Mr. Tuggle became the primary caregiver of his mother who was "his heart." Mr. Tuggle loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a joyful person, loved by his family and many friends. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all.

Surviving are wife Mrs. Evelyn D. Tuggle; son Mr. Alex Roderick Tuggle; grandson Ahmad Tuggle; a great-granddaughter; mother Mrs. Charsie M. Tuggle; brother Mr. and Mrs. Joe V. (Patricia) Tuggle Jr.; sisters Mr. and Mrs. Clyde (Smithie) Baccus, Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Carolyn) Cooksey Sr., all of Covington; brothers-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Joe Louis (Adell) Dewberry, Mr. Lonnie Dewberry, both of Griffin; niece Davida Tuggle of Covington; nephews Tracy T. Ellis of Decatur, Walter (Lizette) Cooksey Jr., of Minneda, Fla., Christopher Cooksey of Covington; aunts Mrs. Smitha Hill of Staten Island, N.Y., Mrs. Hazel Tuggle, Mrs. Lillian Tuggle of Covington; extended family James (Ned) Clark, Leon Perry, Maxine Roseberry, Barbara Ann Cobb; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at noon today, Sept. 8, at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matt Murphy, the Rev. George Hill, the Rev. H.K. Benton Jr. and the Rev. James Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Westside Cemetery.
