A local woman charged with setting the woods on fire near City Pond and Alcovy Road was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Alecia Charlette Jackson, 28, was charged at the beginning of the year with arson of lands in the third degree, a felony.
According to assistant fire marshal, Captain Tony Smith, Jackson went to a gas station across from the woods and was taking the gas pumps out of their holders, allowing any gas left in them to collect in a container. She then went across the street and reportedly set the woods on fire. When questioned, Smith said she told him "she just wanted to see something burn."
Jackson is scheduled to be arraigned on her charges later this month.
