A woman involved in a crash that claimed a man’s life earlier this year was arrested Monday on multiple charges stemming from the wreck. Maria Joann Strickland, 23, is charged with homicide by vehicle, vehicles to drive on right side of the road and improper lane usage and was booked into the Newton County Detention Center. The charges stem from a wreck that occurred on Feb. 8 on Ga. Highway 36. According to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright, Strickland was driving a 1999 Buick north when she crossed the center line and hit a 1987 Toyota pickup head-on. The truck’s driver, 29-year-old William Travis Watson, was killed in the crash. A woman and toddler were in the vehicle at the time and both were transported to Atlanta hospitals for treatment.
