While patrolling, two Newton County officers observed a group of three males and one female talking loudly in the backyard of a residence that has been known for drug activity.
Both officers had made numerous arrests in and around the residence and have received complaints about the homeowner and his involvement in drug trading.
The officers hid in a backyard that backed up to the residence. When the group became even louder, one of the officers approached them. The female immediately dropped something out of her right hand and began to walk away while digging her hand into the front of her pants.
The officer instructed the female to stop and grabbed her by the arm. The female snatched away her arm and attempted to run onto the back porch of the residence. The officer then drew his Taser gun and administered a five second shock to her. The female fell to the ground as the officers gave verbal commands instructing her to show her hands.
The female ignored the command and continued to dig into her pants. The officer responded by tazing the female again and instructed her to reveal her hands. Finally, the female complied and she was placed under arrest.
Meanwhile, the other officer recovered a crack cocaine rock from where the female had been standing - the item dropped from her hand earlier. The officers waited until a female officer arrived on the scene to retrieve whatever was in the female suspect's pants. The female officer recovered a glass cocaine pipe from the suspect's pants containing some residue.
The female was charged with Possession of Cocaine and Obstruction of a Police Officer.
