It seemed to be a cold, snowy winter, but the last freeze for the Atlanta area occurred in February, the earliest last freeze date since 1945, according to the National Weather Service.

The last freeze in 1945 was reported on Feb. 9. Last freezes have occurred in February only five times since 1978, and the average date for a last freeze is March 20. The latest last freeze to occur in Atlanta was on April 25, 1910.
