What is happening with content

As The Covington News changes to a Sunday-only publication in print, our coverage of Newton County will show no signs of decline.

The shift to a weekly printed publication, starting Oct. 5, will boost the type of content you will see in The Covington News.

Our new edition will be larger than any paper we currently offer and feature a well-rounded representation of Newton County. Due to the time that passes between, say, a Tuesday commissioners meeting and when the paper arrives on your doorstep Sunday, we will present an article in print that goes into more depth on how it effects you and your neighborhood. Each section will have both in-depth pieces as well as quick, easy-to-read news that you need to know about.

Things that happen nationally will be broken down and presented in ways that show what it means to you.
Our content will grow in features on health, businesses, religion, entertainment and education with regularly occurring sections.

Our sports section will expand, and the athletes of Newton County will be presented in greater detail.

The newspaper will be a more complete product, with sections you have been accustomed to such as comics and puzzles.
The Covington News is working with great excitement on ways to package all of these informative and entertaining sections of our new and improved newspaper, even as you read this today.

A big part of our company is also our website, and our social media and mobile sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Those platforms will be used like never before.

For us, news never sleeps, and you will find that we will have more up-to-the-minute coverage of the breaking news throughout Newton County.

We are excited to grow our newspaper as the print product shifts to a larger edition and our website becomes even more active.
