The Newton County Board of Commissioners approved a request by the Housing Authority for the City of Covington to collaborate with the county in building a mixed-use community facility in the Walker's Bend subdivision.

The New Leaf Center will house space for job training, office use and multi-purpose meeting rooms.

The funding for the development of the facility will come from Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3 funds, SPLOST funds (which were approved in March) and loans obtained by the Housing Authority.
