Wal-Mart was evacuated around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon after someone called a bomb threat into the popular discount store.

According to reports from the Covington Police Department, an employee answered a phone call and a female caller reportedly said “I’m coming to Wal-Mart to bomb the store and I don’t want anyone to die.”

The store employee replied “excuse me?” and the caller reportedly repeated herself twice more then hung up the phone. The woman sounded like she was between 22-25-years-old and had no accent, according to reports.

The store’s policy is to evacuate in a situation such as that and shoppers were asked to leave for roughly one hour while authorities checked the store for any sort of suspicious items, finding nothing, according to reports.

Detectives from the CPD are tracing the phone number to see where the call may have originated from. Anyone with information as to the identity or whereabouts of the suspect in this case to call the CPD at (770) 786-7605 or online at www.covingtonpolice.com. All tips can be given anonymously.
