Officers from the Covington Police Department were called to the Waffle House on U.S. Highway 278 Oct. 4 when restaurant managers realized a customer passed a counterfeit bill to the store two days earlier.
According to the police report, a man who identified himself as Darrel Williams called the store Oct.3 claiming he received a counterfeit $20 bill with his change when he paid his bill. On Oct. 4, managers reviewed the surveillance tape from Oct. 2 and discovered the man had not visited the location that day.
The counterfeit bill was taken by the Covington Police Department as evidence.
