Fans gathered in downtown Covington Wednesday to try to get a glimpse of their favorite stars from the hit TV show "The Vampire Diaries."
The CW Network show, which centers around a young girl torn between two vampire brothers, has been a hit with teen audiences and is in the midst of filming its fourth season in Covington and the east Atlanta area.
"We actually had a large group come in shortly after 7 p.m.," said Brittain Hunt, a Square Perk employee. The coffee shop is a popular hangout for fans and cast alike. "A couple of guys from the crew and some actors also came in, which got a lot of people excited."
The shows' fourth season will premiere "Growing Pains" Oct. 11.
In the premiere, Elena, the lead character played by Nina Dobrev, will be transitioning into a vampire, while her friends try to stop the transition from happening, according to a trailer recently released.
The show also moves to a college setting, as crews filmed at Oxford College recently and turned the historic Oxford home, Orna Villa, into a frat house, according to the owner.
The TV show has brought a big boost to Covington's tourism trade and there's even been rumors the faux Mystic Grill restaurant facadé on the square, a popular filming spot in the show, could soon have a real restaurant behind it.
